Home Learning Pack - Summer Week 12 Transition

For the final week of 'Home Learning' this Summer Term we are thinking about moving on to your new school, Newport Junior School. During this week you will have the chance to think about your time in Year 2 and the memories you hold, you will also be able to think about how feel about going to the Junior School and what you are looking forward to about Year 3. We do understand that some children may be a little more nervous this year but hope also they are excited to be going back to school in September and seeing all their friends again! This week you get a chance to say thank you to your Year 2 Teacher as well as telling your new Teacher all about you in the Spreading Your Wings booklet (which we hope you give to your new teacher in September so hang onto these). You also have the chance to weave your web with everything you have learned in Maths this year by completing some fun Maths activities too! We hope you have lots of fun completing these activities.

We hope you enjoy thinking back to things you have done at Newport Infant School and things you are looking forward to doing. We would like to say thank you and well done for completing the activities we have set and keeping on going just like Ready Eddie! We will miss seeing you at Newport Infant School but know that you will be fantastic learners and will take all the 'Ready Eddie' skills that you have learned with you. Remember to keep reading and practice those all important basic maths skills if you can. We know that you will be as brilliant at your new school as you were at Newport Infants and will settle in smoothly. We wish you all the best for your new adventure and new Chapter of your life! we look forward to still seeing you at the Junior School when we pop up so please make sure you give us a wave to say 'Hello!'.

We hope you have a fantastic summer holiday and a well earned break!

Stay Safe.

Home Learning Pack - Summer Week 11 The Human Body

This week we are thinking about being 'wonderful humans!' by looking at the Human Body. We'll recap on learning from Year One with the skeleton and move on to learning all about the different organs in our body and how they help us to survive in this wonderful earth. The children get the opportunity to explore why a balanced diet is important, what happens to their food when they eat it, how muscles work, how children grow and evolve through their lifetime, what happens to our body when we exercise and why keeping clean is so important. We hope the children enjoy learning about the Human Body and all the amazing things our body does without us realising!

We hope you have fun becoming Healthy and Hygienic Human Beings this week!

Home Learning Pack - Summer Week 10 Dear Green Peace

This week we are still thinking about the 'How we can look after our wonderful world' but moving our learning on to 'Endangered Animals' by using the story Dear Green Peace. During this week the children have the opportunity to learn more about what endangered animals are, the different types of endangered animals that exist and why they are endangered. They even get to choose their favourite endangered animal and write their very own 'Dear Green Peace' story! In Maths they grow their brains further by focusing on comparing larger numbers and even starting to use algebra to add digits together. Geography and Science play a big part in this weeks learning and children will have the opportunity to share their knowledge of the 7 continents/5 oceans of the world and habitats in order to weave their web and extend their learning further. We hope the children love learning about endangered animals and enjoy completing their home learning activities.

We would love to see some of your work through the DoJo app so feel free to send us anything you are proud of!

Have fun learning all about Endangered Animals!

In order to explore this topic children will need to have access to real/physical recycling such as cardboard boxes, bottles, cans, old toys etc so try not to put all your recycling out for the bin men this week in order to save some for the children to work with.
